Grime Scene

  2. Yes, it's what 'uk garage' evolved into, a kind of basic London hip hop with cockney/patois-inflected accents. The epicentre is in Bow, and Dizee Rascal is its most famous exponent. I quite like it, and actually own that Run the Road compilation mentioned in the article - although my interest is kind of anthropological as I get a kick out of the chat (and the 'kidz' do actually use the Cambellesque word 'chat', usually in the context of 'chatting shit'). I used to love eavesdropping on the kids on buses in Hackney, trying to work out all their slang. There's no way on earth I would attempt to attend a club night, though.
