Festival Fun

Although Shavers Weekly always used to herald this time of the year with their 'Oh No, Here Come the Festival Wanks' issue - anything good on at the festival, John?

off the top of my head i can't think of anything standing out as being the absolutely must see smash hit of the festival so far. of course true to form we haven't actually *been* to see anything yet, so this opinion is based on my cursory reviewing of the scotsman's coverage.

our festival duck will be broken this evening as claire and my mum are off to see a production of "Emma" at the church up the road (only opened yesterday). this weekend we're going to see Barry Cryer and Ronnie Golden at Teviot (Barry Cryer = genius and comedy icon, natch - we saw their fringe preview in that Crouch End's Kings Head a couple of years ago and it was most funny); next week we're probably succumbing to the lure of the ladyboys (if anyone's similarly inclined get in quick as this week was completely sold out when we walked by the box office on sunday).

as a follow up to this i've thought of a decent thing on in edinburgh at the moment - i've heard that the cartier-bresson exhibition at the dean gallery is well worth seeing. additionally i've got a couple of spare tickets to the francis bacon thing if anyone's interested (and i also like the look of
"Dutch Treat: Landscape Drawings from the Netherlands").

Good tip. By the way, didn't mean to make comment to earlier post sound like I wouldn't be around on 27th, just that I'm not sure what precise movements will be. Not sure about the ladyboys - hope its fun.
