Russian MP3s

Tom tells me that allofmp3.com, a Russian pay-per-download site, is great, safe and dirt cheap. Apparently it's not exactly legal per se, but gets away with it because of Russia's lax copyright laws.

(Tom, is this the one you were talking about?)

Yes - this is the future of online music. I wrecked my last laptop with file sharing, but this is great. Quick, cheap and safe downloading.

I was a bit worried about giving my credit card details to some dodgy russians, but it seems legit (and my credit card expires in a couple of weeks anyway). I think you can also use PayPal, which would offer a layer of protection. It is brilliant. You get it to generate mp3s, mpeg4s, ogg vorbis, wma, aac or whatever, at whatever bitrate you want, and they have no crappy rights management stuff built in. You can buy whole albums for about $1.20 (US).

no sign of releases from the fabric record label in there though. i'm considering just buying the whole lot so I don't have to choose.

I've got the FabricLive James Lavelle one from a few years ago - it's good. Although, my credit card did get ripped off not long after I bought something from them...
