Does anyone know anything about 'serious games' - computer games with real-world, practical applications, such as training etc. Especially keen to hear about anything that doesn't involve training the US millitary to kill people...
well (boringly) some of the flight simulators are pretty realistic - my brother (who's got a private pilot's license) had one of the microsoft ones and it had all this really technical stuff about radio beacons that he needed to know about for his exams. i've also heard of motorsport types using driving games to familarise themselves with racing track layouts.
beyond this not sure what other serious uses specific computer games are put to. computer games in general are used by healthcare providers for a variety of therapuetic purposes I suppose.
