For me, the interesting thing is how surprisingly little he has suffered. 25 ecstasy tablets a day for several years and, by the end, he is clearly still alive and physiologically (if not psychologically) functioning reasonably well. If he'd taken 25 paracetomol or anti-biotics, or smoked 25 joints a day, he'd probably be in a far worse state.
