From the site: "Come mingle with London’s leading entrepreneurs and investors who are helping create the world changing ideas of tomorrow."

God how awful. The Internet was built long before the dot.com bubble and has done very well since. Last time round, enough money was wasted to bring food, shelter and healthcare to the entire planet. Can't those rapacious dickheads find something better to do with their lives than filling up the media with their gibberish?

The online/technology world is disproportionately represented in the news media, don't you think? Especially the online variety. Can you imagine if they churned out as much stuff about, say, agriculture or the construction industry? It always annoys me when something slips through from the news wires, and you get 'intel profits up 10%' or 'apple unveils new ipod' or something on the BBC news ticker, next to the important stuff.

Completely agree. The media obsession with online stuff was partly responsible for the dot.com catastrophe (and it was a catastrophe, rivalled only by the Iraq war in terms of wasted money). Do you remember how Martha Lane-Fox became a celebrity? Yet no newspaper or TV show ever bothered to cover the activities of other (profitable) travel agents.
