"Then it is dark; a night where kings in golden suits ride elephants over the mountains." - John Cheever
This, on the other hand, stands the test of time pretty well. I remember buying this album on casette in Woolworths in the Thistle Centre in Stirling!
This is a great song. In fact, I was listening to the album quite a bit last year - I think it's still really good.
I've always thought the Gracelands album was a bit of a mixed bag. I never particularly liked the title track or "diamonds on the soles of her shoes."
You're right - I didn't like either of those tracks much back in the day, but found myself much more fond of them this time around what with my older/mellower/blander music tastes. "You can call me Al" still rocks, but the best tune is probably Boy in the Bubble.
