Heimat
My sister got the DVD of Heimat for Christmas. I watched a couple of episodes and it is superb stuff. I vaguely remember them showing this on telly 20 years ago (20!). Imagine them showing a 16-hour, partly black and white masterpiece with subititles on British TV these days. I intend to steal it from her when I get the chance.

i don't remember it at all though it does sound good (if a bit demanding).
The reviews on Amazon are gushing. I remember it being something that everyone has always hugely admired, and it does sound amazing. I'll have to add it to the pile of great stuff (24, Sopranos) that I've never seen. Roll on retirement...
yeah. i haven't seen sopranos or 24 either - kind of reckoned sopranos looked good, not that bothered about 24 but don't think i've got the energy for either in any case.
these days i seem to just watch loads of friends and frasier repeats plus UK documentry channel. i used to like NYPD Blue when it was on - whatever happened to it?
