Little Sparta

The poet Ian Hamilton Finlay has died. His garden "takes its place in the great tradition of poet-philosophers' gardens stretching from Epicurus to William Shenstone."

That's a shame. I've always wanted to got there. My mum wrote a disseration about arty gardens when she was a mature student at glasgow art school. She went to this one, and Derek Jarman's one on the south coast.

I think it's looked after by a trust so it should still be possible to visit it. Only open in the summer months I believe.
